Keeping your Family Member(s) Healthy

We all want to do our best to all our family members healthy and happy, but sometimes it’s the “what we don’t know, that we don’t know” that gets us! Let us help you better understand what is important to find solutions to help you, help them. The easiest is of course the Food, but not all food is created the same.

You need to understand that there are 3 elements that tell you the quality of the product:

  • Where is it made?
  • What is in it? (nutritional information)
  • Where does the ingredient come from?

Learn to recognize good advertising (like putting your breed on the bag) or that a perception food is any better than lowest grade kibble diets. Dogs and cats are carnivores, a bag of food that starts out on the ingredient panel with grains or vegetables will allow your family member to survive but they will not thrive. READ and UNDERSTAND what you are using!

Exercise is next on the list. Taking a walk is great, but some breeds at certain ages require more than just a 30 minute walk. Some need to run while some need just play catch a few times a day while some need a little encouragement to get them going.

Next Hygiene is one area that so many people forget or just don’t fully understand the impacts. Breeds that are dual coated need to be regularly brushed to remove underlining hair or matting that can cause skin issues, while some breeds require less maintenance like a bath and nail trim every couple of weeks. Oh and let’s not forget the teeth. Bad teeth can cause harmful germs to enter the gut which can result in poor overall health.

Finally like us, they need Social and Mental stimulus. Family members that don’t get socialized can have lots of issues going out in public places, even a simple walk can turn into bad situation. Dogs and Cats are social by nature and they need daily interaction to stay healthy.
